Vetorial Energética is a company that generates wealth with social and environmental responsibility. The company has in charcoal and in iron ore its main input. Therefore, it is constantly seeking self-sufficiency in its raw materials.

As for charcoal, the goal will be achieved by means of intensive and constant cultivation of eucalyptus forests.

The first plantings started in 2004 and they now cover 30000 hectares.

Land and forestry assets through partnerships with investors, with whom Vetorial has agreements that guarantee wood supply (off-take), grant sustainability to the company’s charcoal production.

Over the next five years, there will be 80000 hectares of planted eucalyptus forests in Mato Grosso do Sul.

Self-sufficiency in raw materials will come by joining its own forests with the investors’ forests.

This strategy allows the company to maintain its focus on its core business, the steel industry.

Thus, by the end of 2012, Vetorial Energética will have reached the installed capacity of 110000 tons / year for the sustainable production of charcoal. And from that point on, by means of successive investments, it will reach its goal of 550000 tons / year in 2017.
